Officers initially responded to a call about a shooting that occurred around 4:45 p.m. in Huntsville at the 4600 block of Governors House Drive, Huntsville Police Department He said.

When they arrived, they found a female bullet. A suspect then shot two officers at the scene.

They were taken to Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries. The suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment at the scene.

He was taken into custody around 6:20 pm and taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released the names of the officers or the suspect, as well as what happened to shoot fire.

“Two HPD officers were killed in the line of duty this evening,” Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle wrote on Twitter. Both were taken to Huntsville Hospital with lifethreatening injuries. Our hearts are broken. Please send every prayer you have to the officers and their families and the Huntsville Police Department.”
