former Quinnipiac men’s basketball player Desmond “Dizzy” Jones and another student were arrested this week following a possible domestic violence incident, according to police reports and records.
Jones, who led bobcats At points in the most recently completed season, he was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with misdemeanor third-degree strangulation/asphyxia and disorderly conduct, according to online records from the Hamden Police Department.
Ava Librizi, 21, is also charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Details of the incident were not immediately available.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, the university said it “takes all Title IX incident reports very seriously and has policies in place to ensure a thorough review of all allegations.”
According to the student-run newspaper, The Quinnipiac Chronicle, Librizzi is a member of the Quinnipiac cheerleading squad and appears to be in a relationship with Jones.
The report cited Librizi’s posts on it Social media The accounts reportedly provided details of an alleged assault. Jones is not mentioned in those posts.
“There will be bruises on my neck (because) It choked me to the point where I turned purpleShe reportedly wrote. “Maybe I’m getting a concussion from the number of times I hit my head.”
The Chronicle reported that Jones and Librizi appeared in court on Wednesday but did not file pleas.
Jones, who averaged 12.5 points a game for the Bobcats last season, announced on social media just last week his intention to move to Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.
