Pakistan’s highly-anticipated squash star Mohammed Hamzah Khan clinched the 2020 British Junior Championships title after defeating his England opponent in straight sets in the final in Birmingham on Monday.

Hamza, the second seed in the tournament, defeated Youssef Sheikh 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 in a one-sided final of the under-15 category in the tournament.

He moved to the final after defeating Egyptian Yassin Shohdy 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Al-Sheikh beat Mohammed Emad 11-9, 11-6, 11-7 in the other semi-final match.

The best players from around the world take part in one of the most anticipated tournaments on the squash calendar.

Hussain Advani, director of the Pakistan squash team, said the victory would open a new era for the sport in the country. Talking to Express TribuneHe said Hamza is a promising player who will make the country proud.

Hamza, speaking at the occasion, said that today’s victory was a goal he set for himself several months ago.

“I dedicate this title to Pakistan… I will try to win more such accolades for the country in the future.”
