Minnesota elementary school to host ‘gender resource fair’ with drag story hour, bounce house

Minneapolis Public Schools is scheduled to host an elementary school “Gender Resource Fair” on April 13, which will include a story hour for children.

The event will feature the medical director of the Minnesota Children’s Sexual Health Program, which provides “puberty blockers, menstrual cycle suppressors, and/or gender-affirming hormones” to children, according to its website.

Dr. Angela Jobferd; A lawyer and a doctor at Children’s Hospital will speak about supporting transgender children,” he said, describing the event to publish on the St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) Copyright Office website.

“There will be a bounce house for kids, snacks, and many local resources focused on transgender and non-binary children!” Description continues.

A flyer for the event reads, “We’re hosting a gathering for families and their creative little ones, both genders! Join us for community resources, entertainment, food, games and more!”

The timeline on the post lists two events at 4:45 p.m., one with Gopherd speaking “for adults,” and the other designated “for kids” as the drag story hour.

According to the SPPS Office of Equity homepage, their mission is as follows:

“Our goal is to ensure a safe and welcoming school environment that promotes positive self-esteem, respect for others, and academic success for all people of both genders, i.e. lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and asexual (LGBTQ+) students, families, and staff.”

Parents across the country have expressed concern about LGBTQ content being presented to vulnerable students at a young age. Some states, such as Florida, have banned the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity from the kindergarten through third-grade curriculum.

When Minnesota was reached for comment, it again referred to the Minneapolis Public Schools. Representatives for Minneapolis Public Schools, St. Paul Public Schools and Loring Elementary School did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
