North Korea also fired a round of missiles from its shores on Monday, prompting the US State Department to comment on the need for greater involvement from other UN member states.

“The United States condemned the DPRK’s launch of a ballistic missile on March 19, which came just three days after the DPRK’s launch of an ICBM,” said Deputy Chief Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vendant Patel last week. “This launch violates several Security Council resolutions, and is the latest in a series of launchers that pose a threat to the DPRK’s neighbors.”
Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s dictator, oversaw the test last week and said the exercise improved the military’s war capacity. It also highlighted the need to ensure the country’s readiness for any “immediate and overwhelming nuclear counterattack” against the United States and South Korea.
