Holly Holm called for an end to pedophilia on Saturday after defeating Yana Santos via unanimous decision.
He was Holm’s first win Since 2020 she has expressed something she said was in her heart.
“There was something in my heart that I feel I have the platform to say, and I want to say it,” Holm said. “I just feel like it’s really sad that all of our kids are having sex right now and we need to protect them no matter what. Let’s protect the kids, please!”
In the post-fight press conference, Holm made it clear what she was talking about.
Holm added, “You know there’s a lot of things, I never want to be… I’m not even a real political person.” “I don’t like putting this stuff around any of my social media…but there’s also just right and wrong. I feel like everyone has to be on the same side in that. I don’t feel like this has to do with the left side or the right side or anything like that.” Like that. I feel everyone should want to protect their children.
“There’s a lot of child trafficking. I mean, that’s like the extreme part. There’s a lot of levels. You see it’s almost becoming more acceptable and I think that’s really sad. I feel like we should all do what we can. A lot of people don’t know what to do.” But at least if I can speak my mind, it’s something I can talk about. And it’s just to get everybody together to protect the kids.
“It affects people in their long-term lives, too. I have friends who are adults and the oldest of them—that’s kind of a shadow, kind of that dark space for them—they get sexualized when they were young. I feel like it almost becomes accepted.”
Holm last fought in 2022 and it looks like she’ll be in the UFC for a little while longer.
I signed a six fight contract With the UFC ahead of her bout against Santos, her promoter Lenny Friskez told the Albuquerque Journal.
